No experience is required at all. Beach Squad cleanups are beginner-friendly, and our team will explain everything you need to know before you start.
Q: How long do I have to participate?
You can participate for as little or as long as you’d like within the cleanup window.
If you can help for 20 minutes — that’s great. If you stay the entire time — that’s great too.
Q: Do I need to bring anything with me?
Beach Squad provides all cleanup supplies.
We recommend bringing:
• Water
• Sunscreen
• A hat
• Comfortable clothing
• Closed-toe shoes/sandals are strongly recommended.
Q: Who can attend Sunday cleanups?
Sunday cleanups are reserved for:
• Individuals
• Families
• Small groups of 4 people or fewer
Q: Can my business, school, or organization bring a group to a Sunday cleanup?
No. Groups of 5 or more are not permitted to participate in Sunday cleanups.
Sunday cleanups are designed to serve individuals and families, and supplies are limited. Groups of 5+ must schedule a private group or corporate cleanup.
Q: What if my group signs up individually to avoid booking a private cleanup?
We do not allow businesses or organizations to register multiple individuals separately for Sunday cleanups.
If this occurs, the group may be asked to leave and reschedule as a private cleanup.
This policy ensures fair access and a positive experience for all volunteers.
Q: When can private group cleanups be scheduled?
Private group and corporate cleanups can be scheduled any day of the week except Sundays, between 8:30 AM and 10:45 AM.
Q: Where are group cleanups held?
Our group cleanups take place at Sun Splash Park in Daytona Beach.
Alternate locations may be accommodated for an additional travel fee, depending on distance and logistics.
Q: What’s included in a group cleanup?
Each group cleanup includes:
• All cleanup supplies
• On-site Beach Squad coordination
• Volunteer check-in & waiver confirmation
• Bucket assignment and tracking
• Trash weighing and data recording
• Group photos
• A digital Certificate of Achievement showing your group name, cleanup date, and total pounds collected

• The registering adult assumes full responsibility and liability for any minors they register.
Q: Can I earn volunteer or community service hours?
Yes. Beach Squad cleanups qualify as community service activities for many schools, scholarship programs, and organizations. Volunteer hours are credited based on actual time participated.
Q: Are there leadership opportunities for students?
Yes. Beach Squad offers a Cleanup Leader program for volunteers seeking extended hours and leadership experience. Cleanup Leaders are selected through an interview process.
Q: What happens if the weather is bad?
Because weather conditions can change rapidly near the beach, weather decisions are usually made the morning of the cleanup, and volunteers are notified through email and on social media.
Q: When are Sunday cleanups cancelled?
Sunday cleanups may be cancelled if:
• There is significant rain in the area
• Sustained winds exceed 15 mph
• Conditions are deemed unsafe
If a Sunday cleanup is cancelled, registered volunteers will be notified via email and social media.
Q: What about group or corporate cleanups and weather?
Group cleanups are more flexible with weather decisions.
Unless conditions are unsafe, the final call is typically up to the group or organization that scheduled the cleanup. Beach Squad will communicate closely with the group organizer.
